Plastics - Paintings -
This work spans a period of more than ten years from 1982 to 1993.
It is characterized by a systematic use of a black tarp in polyane as
support ; materials used in industrial agriculture (land recovering,
packaging etc.)
At the limit of the object / sculpture-painting, this work explores
various possibilities of cuting and the use of such materials in
spaces associated with painting.
The "object" is the heart of the work.
The work is being done on the principe of a series.
The topics covered are: the car, the boat, the motorcycle, the door, the parachute,
the picture, the tire, the cross, and so on. . .
Once the paint job done, the ultimate gesture is to cut with a blade,
around the figure represented. By circumvention, the painting becomes
its own context, its own limits, its circumferance.
Systematically black and thin, the painting is fixed
on the wall with simple pins. Whence this work is hung on the wall,
it functions as a symbol of smoothness on the surface of the space.
